The Gulf corridor
The Gulf to India corridor carries more capital, more construction and more family-owned business than almost any other, and more of it is documented informally than anybody involved would like to admit.
What we do
We advise Gulf-based investors, family groups, contractors, traders and financial institutions on their Indian interests, and Indian businesses on the Indian side of their Gulf structures. Inbound investment into Indian real estate, infrastructure, manufacturing and hospitality, and the foreign investment conditions attaching to each. Family group succession and holding structures with an Indian limb, where the Indian assets are frequently the least documented part of the estate. Construction and engineering procurement contracting with an Indian supply or subcontracting element, and the disputes that follow. Trade, distribution and agency arrangements. Enforcement in India of awards and judgments obtained in the Gulf, including under the arrangements applying to the Dubai International Financial Centre and the Abu Dhabi Global Market. Non-resident Indian investment, property and succession matters, which are a substantial part of the corridor and are usually handled badly.
How the desk works
Working across Indian and Gulf time is a scheduling advantage rather than an obstacle, the overlap being most of the working day.
